Elaine is a partner with more than 17 years of experience. She represents clients on private Canadian and cross-border M&A transactions, both on the sell-side and the buy-side, and private equity and venture capital transactions.
She also regularly advises clients on business structuring, corporate reorganizations, shareholder agreements, corporate governance matters, incentive share options and ownership plans and commercial contracts.
Skilled in complex transactions and with experience as in-house counsel, Elaine is acknowledged for her technical skills, risk mitigation strategies, practicality and compassion for clients and the life changing events they may be facing. Clients and colleagues tell her she is easy to work with, is responsive and reduces their deal-related stress – whether she is working on a large or a small deal. She is sensitive to the trust clients place in her and the reality that clients process and produce a lot of information while still leading and managing their business.
Elaine’s transactional and commercial law experience spans a broad spectrum of industries including food and agriculture, construction, distribution, technology, manufacturing, financial services and insurance, healthcare, retail and transportation.
She represents a diverse range of clients, including entrepreneurs, management, investors, private companies, family offices, private equity funds and venture capital funds.
Elaine especially enjoys working with business owners to help them successfully navigate the complexities of the sale of their business and this meaningful life event as they realize the value of their hard work.
